Lauren Chavez

Development & Outreach Manager

Lauren grew up in the foothills of Denver, Colorado where the mountains were a skip and a hope away. She grew up hiking, skiing, camping, hunting, and horseback riding with her parents. Her love for open sky and the outdoors led her to attend MSU where she earned a BA in English-Writing. After graduating, Lauren decided that four years of school just wasn’t enough and pursued her MA in Literary and Cultural Studies with a research focus in Poetry/Poetics and Environmental Literature at the University of Utah.

Lauren has somehow always found herself in mentorship, volunteer, or work positions that have a focus on helping children in her local community. From being a youth ski coach, an after-school program coach at Bozeman’s own Spire Climbing + Fitness, to working as a Grants Specialist and Mobile School Pantry Program Coordinator at a local food bank in Salt Lake City, Lauren believes in helping children acquire the skills, tools, and support they need to achieve their fullest potential. She is excited to be a part of the BBBS of Big Sky Country team as the Development and Outreach Manager.

Out of the office you can find Lauren outside skiing, hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, or rock climbing and taking in the “big sky.” Alternatively, you can also find her with her nose in a book sipping a cup of tea, writing (also with tea), or walking around reciting poetry (with a thermos of tea, of course).
