Since 1998, the Ennis Sidekicks Program has been a partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters of Gallatin County and Ennis Schools. High school Bigs are matched with K-5 Littles on a one-to-one mentoring basis for the school year. Teachers and counselors identify students who can benefit from interaction with a caring mentor. The purpose of the program is to form a friendship between the Big and Little to assist the Little with social skills, academic confidence, and self-esteem.
This past school year, we had 21 successful matches. They ate lunch together, played board games, did arts and crafts, and played outside.
